People, this is what we do
Many of our products are produced in other countries. Kersten advocates safe, legal, humane and ethical production practices, and we've done so ever since we started our global supply chain. We also aim for long-term collaborations with our suppliers; we know their factories and we understand how they work.
Produced responsibly. We guarantee it
A beautiful product is important, but good and fair working conditions for the people making the product must be the priority. To be able to guarantee these conditions we apply the globally recognised code of conduct of the Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI), based on international treaties that protect the rights of workers.
Sustainability becomes the norm
Our target is energy-neutral premises, the fewest emissions possible and as much energy as possible generated from renewable sources. That's how we do it.
Yes to solar power
We have 4000m2 of solar panels on our roof that generate 500 kWh per day on average. This allows us to provide more than 65 households with power.
Energy-saving lighting
It may seem like a small thing, but it's important nonetheless: we only use LED lighting on our premises, to prevent unnecessary energy usage.
Innovative climate control system, 0% natural gas
Our building is cooled and heated with a special climate control system that uses a heat pump, so we are not in any way connected to the natural gas network. What is unique about our system is that we utilise 800m³ of water from our sprinkler system. That's never been done before! Less air pollution
At Kersten we drive energy-saving cars, electric ones if at all possible. This allows us to reduce our CO2 emissions.
And we don't stop there
Every year we assess how we can make our premises and production processes even more sustainable. We evaluate how we can optimise, save, reduce, innovate. Kersten never rests on its laurels.
